This map contains the Middle American Screech Owl, Vermiculated Screech Owl, and some combination of the Napo, Choco, Colombian and Roraimian Screech Owls. The taxonomy is complicated, and in flux. The Vermiculated is found from Costa Rica to nw Colombia and n Venezuela and the rest are found in the regions they are named after.

Split from the [Vermiculated Screech Owl] because of vocalization differences (shorter song). The two species split is somewhere in central Panama. Lacking black border to facial disk seen on [Tropical Screech Owl] (if you see one without hearing it).
