This Red-lored Whistler is a first or second immature. Note the rufous ventral area and longer, flatter bill than Gilbert's Whistler. Adults have a pale to bright rufous wash over the face.
Red-lored Whistlers are rare and extremely elusive whistlers favouring old mallee habitats. The area around Gluepot and into Murray-Sunset NP is the stronghold for this species, but there is also a small population out at Round Hill NR in central NSW.
