EDITOR: Often called the most common bird in the world, with an estimated 1.5 billion. The Red-billed Quelea is in the 'weaver' family and is found in Africa. The Passenger Pigeon may have been the most common bird, and definitely was in the Americas, but was hunted to extinction in the 1800's.
