The Bird Data family of apps do not collect any personal information. No username, email or password is required. When images and sound files are downloaded from the server, only an IP address and time is recorded (as does virtually every web server), and this can not be connected to a specific device. Your usage of the app may be monitored by Android (Google) depending on your phone settings. If you make a purchase, Google will process the charge and provide the Bird Data app with verification, but not personal information. You can choose to share your location with the eBird Map, but your location is not saved by the app. You can record sound, but sound is only recorded when you agree to allow the app to record sound. Then you must initiate the recording with a button press, and stop it with another button press. Recordings are stored in external storage, so they can be shared to other applications, and can possibly be accessed from other applications (such as file browsers). The sound recording feature is for bird sounds and field notes, and not sensitive personal information.
