Paraguay (immigration) - please improve Home » Forums » Birding » Trip Reports

I was going to cross through Paraguay to possibly visit Chaco National
Park on my way to Iguazu. At the border crossing I was called off the
bus and asked to pay 300 pesos ($75) because I did not have an exit
stamp from a previous visit. Buses leaving Paraguay never stop at
immigration, so this is completely normal. I managed to only pay $50,
but I find it ridiculous for immigration to prey upon repeat tourist
vistors from first world countries. I don't know if I could have
talked my way out of this if my Spanish were better. I know my wife
would have fought with them until they cried mercy. I ended up leaving
Paraguay immediately, losing another day in a traffic jam at the
border.
