Common Crane...in the rain...... Here's a Common Crane taken just after a rain shower while I was in Estonia last year. Largely confined to eastern and northern Europe the Crane is migratory and large numbers winter in Iberia. It is reckoned to have bred in Ireland up to the 14th century and, as the population is recovering and moving westward, may do so again - possibly as a re-introduction. They are magical and elegant birds with a most haunting and evocative call; be nice to see them regularly.
