Perhaps the first American Wigeon to visit Green Cay. And shot from the boardwalk with the unfortunate down angle. Although Green Cay is one of the most popular locations for bird photography in South Florida, I generally avoid it in favor of the Everglades or nearby Loxahatchee NWR. A few of the top reasons:
the boardwalk down angle for water birds. I shoot 600 mm. at the wetlands to minimize this, but this bird was too close :(
too many people, and too much vibration from the power walkers.
species such as the Pileated Woodpecker, Carolina Wren, Snail Kite, Great Horned Owl, and others are never seen at the wetlands, but are present nearby at Loxahatchee.
