I've heard there are some differences between the Colombian version of this bird and others. Could it be the female's raised crest? I am trying to get more info.
Miles Mcmullan, a well known tropical bird illustrator, just wrote me that this subspecies has different chest coloration (more rufous, less streaked), and there is grounds for splitting the subspecies which you have photographed, T. c. pulchellus, as its principal song also differs from the other ssp. Thanks Miles!
