Taken on a very underwhelming trip to Choshi, Chiba, yesterday. ... However, we still got to see birds such as Black-tailed Gull (abundant), Glaucous Gull (a few), Glaucous-winged Gull (a few), Slaty-backed Gull (a few), Vega Gull (abundant), Black-headed Gull (abundant), Common Gull (common) and I saw one Black-legged Kittiwake. Two new species of gull, although to be honest I was hoping for Thayer's Gull as well, as both the kittiwake and Glaucous-winged are common up north. We also spotted some seabirds such as Red-necked Grebe (new bird), Great Crested Grebe, Black-necked Grebe, White-winged Scoter, Harlequin Duck (the males are stunning), Temminck's Cormorant (new bird, very abundant) and Pelagic Cormorant (another new bird, reasonably common).
