Black-throated Huet-huet standing next to either an Andean quartz crystal or a plastic bag. I spent an entire day trying to shoot this bird, which has a limited range but is common around Bariloche, Argentina. Finally at the end of the day when I left the hiking trail, the bird popped out and posed for me for about 30 seconds. But I couldn't get my camera out of the backpack in time, and missed the shot. So all I had is this one. It is included in the main gallery because there are very few photos of this bird on the net (and the advantages of editor's discretion). The bird has a very strong call, and it took me a while to associate that call with this small bird. It's characteristic behaviour is kicking leaves behind it,looking for insects and worms. I had originally misidentfied this bird because 'Birds of Argentina' does not show the white eye ring.
