In Florida and Uruguay, my and my wife's home city, the Monk Parakeet has a strong and apparently growing presence. So on my trip to the Patagonian Andes, I was happy to see another parakeet in large and noisy numbers. I visited the tourist town of Villa Pehuenia for just one day, and was lucky to get a half way decent shot. But it doesn't show the important distinctive feature, the reddish-brown tail.
