Different in coloration to the female Passerini's Tanager (the males are simlar). Once they were both called the Scarlet-rumped Tanager. The ranges do not overlap.
In {IOC} 9.1 Passerini's Tanager and Cherrie's Tanager were merged back into the Scarlet-rumped Tanager. Cherrie's females are more colorful, but males are similar.
