The Black-necked Swan is a difficult bird to photograph for a few reasons. First, you want to show detail in both the black and the white, so getting the correct lighting and exposure settings is critical. Secondly, swans have long necks, so getting the head/eye in focus is tricky. Lastly, they are not too common. Luckily the Montevideo Zoo has two, but I was unable to get the picture I wanted.
