One of only a handful of species endemic to mainland Ecuador. It is seriously endangered and still very poorly known. It can be seen regularly certain times of the year at a couple of sites in Manabí like Ayampe and the Esmeralda Reserve, but most or all of them seem to vacate the region from about May to November. Where do they go?
