Found in forest understory (Ridgely). Adapts well to forest degradation. Thin crest on male often hidden or hard to see. On male note fulvous crest, rump and white borders to wings. Note also a red patch on lower side. Compare male to [Flame-crested Tanager] which has a {fulvous} throat.
