National bird of Seychelles and acknowledged as a separate race (Coracopsis nigra barklyi) of the Lesser Vasa Parrot. Numbers limited to low hundreds occurring only on Praslin and Curiese Islands. Sighted in small flock of 6 to 7 birds feeding on small palm seeds near Valee de Mai.
