Split from the [Spot-winged Antbird]. Similar to another split, the [Brownish-headed Antbird]. Main visual difference from [Spot-winged Antbird] is female has a brown and not grey head. Found in Brazil in Humait area as well as Amazon river area around Manaus. Later recorded in Peru/Manu. Often found in palm swamps ({HBW}).
