The resident biologist at Flamingo Gardens tells me this color Turkey Vulture is only found in the southernmost portion of it's range, in the Florida Keys. I need to ask him about the Turkey Vultures in South America. Is this an adaptation to keep cool?
Larger than the [Black Vulture], and uses scent to find carrion. Some migrate south, but note tropical resident birds have a white nape. Immatures have black head.
