Swainson's Hawk is a long distance migrant tracing and retracing a migration route that takes it south to the Pampas of Argentina. This is one raptor that regularly migrates in large groups. This "regular" color phase was photographed in the SE corner of Arizona.

A large migratory hawk that migrates south, sometimes in groups of hundreds. From the ground compare to [White-tailed Hawk] but note long pointed wings, and additional thin bands on tail that might be hard to see from ground.
