A key target for most birders traveling the northern Peru birding route is the Marvellous Spatuletail. Although the Huembo Centre is great for birders, it is a photographer's nightmare. The Spatuletail visited every 15-20 minutes in the early morning, and darted between the dense bushes in mostly dark shady conditions. It rarely sat still for more than a few seconds at any perch.
