The area around Necocli has vast 'teca' forests. Teca is a non-native hardwood that is farmed for wood, and unfortunately does not have edible fruit. So the teca forests are mostly lifeless. I am guessing the area used to have healthy forests and abundant wildlife. I was led to believe the other side of the Gulf of Uraba has more forest, but the sea was a rough in January and some locations could not be visited, so that adventure was put off for another date.
