This bird came out into the open and took a rest on the moss while I took photos from the road from a tripod. When I first got my 500mm II lens, I was very curious how it would perform with a 2x extender. The results haven't been as stellar as I would like, but I probably wouldn't have gotten this shot if I hadn't kept the large distance possible by shooting at 1000mm.
