This is a Kenyan endemic found mainly round Mount Kenya. It is localised and hard to find but our local guide, Chege, took us straight to some dense roadside vegetation that held a small group.
Perversely, the birds only showed in very brief flights while we were quet and trying hard to see them, then as we were getting ready to board our vehicle and leave and the noise level had risen a bit this bird came out to check us out.
Clements and some older texts give the name as Hinde's Pied-babbler but the shorter Hinde's Babbler seems to be gaining acceptance. The species is classed as "Vulnerable".
