Tibetan Sandgrouse - Syrrhaptes tibetanus - was one of the main target species on the Tibetan Plateau. It is not especially rare but its home range is remote and difficult to access so for bird listing purposes it is not one to miss. Jesper Hornskov, our guide on the Oriental Bird Club fundraising tour of the area, directed us to a spot south of Golmud in central Qinghai Province along a lonely, windswept road and instructed us to watch for any sign of this charismatic species.
