Recently split from Monk Parakeet, this endemic Bolivian psittacidae is abundant at the Red-fronted Macaw Nature Reserve.
At night they roost on the cliff face opposite the lodge and in the morning stream out into the surrounding valley in small noisy flocks. On our previous June visit some would stop briefly by at the lodge before continuing on their way. This time in November, with the trees beside our accommodation in bloom and in seed, they would stay all morning and allow fabulous photographic opportunities.
