Humboldt's Sapphire had been considered conspecific with the Blue-headed Sapphire by HBW, but now they think otherwise. This mangrove species is also very similar to the Blue-throated Sapphire (Blue-throated Goldentail) but that species has less blue on the head and has a golden tail. At time of writing, I could not find another photo of the male.
