American birds it seems are studied closely and have many subspecies. Is this the Florida subspecies? Somewhere there is a paper describing the differences with other subspecies. HBW does have an illustration of the Florida subspecies, but it does not show the black collar seen here, and has muted white spots on the front, not in my opinion seen here either.
Bill Pranty helped with this:
This from "The Birdlife of Florida" (Stevenson and Anderson 1994:186):
"The widespread race C. v. virginianus is the form that ranges across n Florida;the dark C. v. floridanus ranges from 'near Gainesville and Anastasia Island' southward (AOU 1957). With the frequent infusion of bobwhites from Texas and Mexico, many Florida birds today are not typical of either of the above subspecies."
The "infusion" refers to birds imported by hunting camps and others.
