If you can get close enough, the sharp point in the side of the bill differentiates this species from the migratory Summer Tanager. The bill is also slightly darker.
Split from the [Hepatic Tanager], a non-migratory version of the [Summer Tanager]. Look for a notch in the bill and a slightly darker and less flesh-colored bill than the [Summer Tanager].
