One of the signature birds of the Colombian paramo sitting on the signature plant, the frailejon. The helmet refers to the plate above the bill, and the beard and crest are apparent.
A iconic hummingbird found only in the {paramo} around Nevado del Ruiz at 4000m, and is usually seen near yellow flowers. Less white than the three other species of Helmetcrest.
