A non-migratory version of the Sharp-shinned Hawk. Photographed in June, making identification easier. HBW describes this species as polymorphic, and this is the pale morph. Their illustrations show the back more slaty, but perhaps this is an immature or female.
A non-migratory version of the small [Sharp-shinned Hawk], and often considered the same species. The {rufous} {thigh} seems to be a good identifying feature of this species.
