Quite common around La Pastora ecolodge around 2400 meters. The bird is poorly illustrated in Hilty, but I have seen one photo with more rufous in the face. It also looks similar to the Handsome Flycatcher, which according to Jurgen Beckers is also at La Pastora, but that species has no rufous at all, including the tail, which helped me convince myself of this identification. This bird moves in groups and in mixed flocks and is quite vocal, somewhat different than many flycatchers.
