Greater Painted-snipe and Little Egret ... While a pair of egrets tend to stay together through the breeding season, Painted-snipes have more complicate mating relationship. The male snipe is to build the nest, brood the eggs, and feed the chicks. The female snipe keeps mating with one after one throughout the breeding season. That's why she has more vibrant feathers and frequently showing off to other guys strolling around. In fact, outside of this picture, there is a single male snipe following the pair at a distance waiting for opportunities.
