Puffins, Auks, etc.

This album contains birds in the order Charadriiformes and family Alcidae. See Complete List. Currently all of these photos were taken by Tom Friedel on a trip to Machias Seal Island (see photo). You get one hour behind a blind. I was really nervous about shooting black and white birds in the sun (overexposing the white or underexposing the black). I ended up shooting most of the photos at 1/1000, and did ok with the whites, but didn't really get the shots I wanted. Now I have better equipment and hopefully more skill, so hope I get another chance. But on 5/5/08 I reprocessed all the files in Photoshop and improved the Puffin final results by 100%. The Murre and Razorbill photos could not be saved.
