Currently there is not a policy on this site about the content of blogs, and this is the only blog I have. Maybe the search engines will pick up this page, and maybe someone will give me some advice.
Lately I've seen a number of commercials about how great TD Ameritrade is, and they annoy me. A number of years ago I asked TD Ameritrade to put me into a 'good' money market that paid a rate of around 4%, which many money markets paid at that time. They have a record of my request. A short time thereafter, tney claim they sent me a letter stating I would be moved into their regular money market, which paid maybe 1%. I never saw (maybe never received) this letter, and didn't notice this for about three years! When I complained for some reason the reimbursed me for the interest rate difference for just a few months. They verbally told me that I shoud not have received that letter, and should not have had the money moved, because my three accounts should have been as a whole. I didn't know about FINRA and have done nothing else to pursue this. Unfortunately is has been a few years now.
It is a lot of work to move to a new investment company, so I am still with TD. More recently a young TD high-pressure representative called me and offerend me a free portfolio analysis. It was really an attempt to sell me an investment advisor at 1%/year. When I asked the TD representative to give me the worksheet that would show me how great their strategies were, he said no, because 'it has all the answers'. Despite their commercials, never think these people are on your side.
