This mini-macaw, also known as the Severe Macaw, is about 45 centimeters long, and can live up to eighty years. They are found in Florida, probably as escapees, and I have seen them in Birch State Park, Fort Lauderdale, where I live. Recently, in Matheson Hammock Park in Miami, a tree containing a nest was cut down in an apparent poaching attempt. If the Macaws thought they would be safe from poachers in North America, they were mistaken.
